Occupational Health and Safety Specialist

Vale de Cambra, Portugal

Main Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Implement occupational health and safety policies and procedures through the dissemination of internal standards, ongoing training, and periodic inspections to ensure legal compliance and employee protection;
  • Monitor working conditions and operating environments through internal audits, risk assessments, and technical measurements to identify and mitigate occupational risks;
  • Prepare technical and statistical OHS reports based on the collection and analysis of data on accidents, near misses and performance indicators to support preventive decision-making;
  • Support accident and incident investigations by analysing causes, gathering witness statements and formal documentation to define corrective actions and prevent recurrence;
  • Promote a culture of safety through internal campaigns, awareness programmes and information sessions to involve all levels of the organisation in risk prevention;
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance in OHS matters by monitoring applicable legislation and liaising with official bodies (ACT, DGS, etc.) to keep the company in good standing and auditable;
  • Manage medical assessment and occupational health surveillance processes in partnership with external occupational health services to maintain employees’ physical fitness and comply with legal requirements;
  • Develop emergency procedures and response plans through simulations, training, and regular updates to ensure the organisation is prepared for critical situations;
  • Collaborate with different areas of the company through meetings, technical analyses, and project monitoring to integrate safe practices into all operational processes.

We are looking for:

  • Degree in areas such as Occupational Safety Engineering, Occupational Health and Level VI OHS training course (CAP);
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in roles related to Occupational Health and Safety, preferably in industrial environments;
  • Knowledge of English;
  • Good knowledge of current Health and Safety regulations and legislation;
  • Good knowledge of risk assessments, ATEX and Chemical Management;
  • Knowledge of internal audits and accident investigation.
